About the workshop:

The Pixar Effect explores how emotional contrast can enhance your improvised songs and scenes. If you’re comfortable with basic chorus-verse structures, this workshop will help you go a step further to playfully heighten emotions. Based on work with the musical improvisation ensemble Commotie and inspired by techniques used in Pixar movies, this workshop offers practical tools to bring more depth and variety to your performances, whether you’re aiming for heartfelt or humorous moments.

About the teacher:

Ben and Ingmar have been performing together for many years, with their closest collaborations in their musical improv ensemble Commotie. They are two time winners of the Flemish longform improv competition Kemphanen (2017, 2023). The Commotie style is characterised by an abundance of absurdity, creativity, musicality, comedy and theatricality.
